Beneficiile flavonoidelor
Au un efect pozitiv si asupra sistemului cardiovascular, reducand fragilitatea capilarelor si crescand flexibilitatea peretilor sanguini. Consumul lor regulat poate reduce nivelul de colesterol si riscul de formare a cheagurilor de sange, prin urmare pot oferi protectie impotriva trombozei si pot incetini aparitia aterosclerozei.
Gratie efectelor vasculare benefice si proprietatilor antiinflamatorii, pot contribui la tratamentul simptomelor diabetului, intarziind aparitia consecintelor neplacute ale acestei boli.
Pe langa multiplele efecte fiziologice benefice, flavonoidele au si efecte antialergice. Astfel, au capacitatea de a bloca productia de histamine si alte substante ce provoaca inflamarea, reducand riscul de aparitie a astmului pe baza alergica.
Quercitina
Quercitina ajuta la protejarea impotriva infectiilor in mai multe moduri. Nu doar sprijina si regleaza sistemul imunitar, ci are un efect antipatogen de spectru larg, reducand in acelasi timp nivelurile de citokine proinflamatorii. In cadrul unui studiu care a examinat pacienti de peste 40 de ani in forma fizica buna, acestia s-au recuperat mai repede in urma infectiilor tractului respirator superior, cu simptome usoare, datorita consumului unei cantitati ridicate de quercitina.
